Well it was another beautiful day here.  The chickens were happy for all of the sunshine & treats. I do believe their egg production increases significantly when they get more treats!  Today their treats included lots of lettuce & day old bread that I toasted & cut up for them, as well as the veggie scraps accumulated from the weekend which included radish greens, apple cores, green onion tops, & some blueberries.  As usual, Percy was by my side & eager to help with the chickens.

Today I worked with Percy just sitting calmly amongst the flock so that the hens could get used to Percy & visa versa.  Percy was fairly calm for almost 10 minutes & then decided that he had enough & that it was play time with the border collies.

With all of the sunshine these past couple of day, the earth is waking up & signs of spring abound.  The grass is starting to green up and the grape hyacinths are showing their shoots.  The tulips, day lilies,  & iris are beginning to peek out as well.  The lilac bushes are a bit slower, they are just barely starting their buds but I know they will be beautiful when they bloom!  The wildflower perennials that I planted last year are beginning their spring ascent into the sunshine also.

As for the vegetable garden, it will soon be cleaned out & prepared for planting.  I have several different vegetables planned for this summer including a variety of lettuce, radishes, Japanese Eggplant, Heirloom tomatoes, watermelon, several varieties of pumpkin & squashes, carrots, beans, gourds, and I am sure some other delicious stuff that I haven't thought of.  Well as the day is drawing to a close, I do believe I will go check on the chickens again & see if they have delivered anymore of their delicious gifts.  And then perhaps settle in for the evening to stitch & watch a bit of TV.  Enjoy the extra sunshine & have a "Rambunctious" day!!!
